Great Red Spot

Computer models suggest that the Great Red Spot is a permanent feature. It has existed as long as we have been able to see it, at least. The spot is at a higher altitude than the surrounding clouds, and at several points in this image, you can see where clouds are casting shadows on the cloud deck below.
