Ejected Block

Ejected Block

When a meteorite slammed into the moon to make the Tycho crater, the explosion blew this 320 meter chuck of rock out to the edge of the hole! Molten rock rained down on it after the impact, and cooled to create a smooth, white sheen on the top. (You can't see this rock in the larger image because it is hidden in the shadows.)
