Apollo 17 Landing Site

Apollo 17 Landing Site

Apollo 11 was the first mission to land men on the moon, and Apollo 17 was the last. In this image, you can see the lander's legs, which acted as a launchpad for the upper portion that returned the astronauts to their main spacecraft. You can also see surface experiments and the astronauts tracks. The rover is also visible, but for some reason it has turned black. Perhaps ultraviolet light damaged the seat material. (No telescope on Earth can see this, but this photo was taken by a satellite orbiting the moon.) View with labels.
