Zoom 3: Dusty Star-Forming Region

The red color is the glow of hydrogen gas that is collapsing to form stars. This nebula is like the Eagle Nebula and others in our own galaxy, but much, much bigger. Many of the stars in this area are hidden by gigantic clouds of dark dust.
