Omega Centauri

Omega Centauri

The largest globular cluster in the Milky Way is Omega Centauri. It may contain 10 million stars! It can't be seen north of about 35° latitude, but it's an easy naked-eye object from the Southern Hemisphere. It's name indicates that it was cataloged as a star by early astronomers.
