Perseus Cluster

Perseus Cluster

This is one of the most massive structures known. Not only does it contain thousands of galaxies, but the galaxies are embedded in a thin, but enormous cloud of superheated plasma. This is also one of the closest galaxy clusters at 300 million light years (right next door!), so it is within reach of large amateur telescopes.
